Thank you for reading my privacy notice. I am Fiona Dix, trading as loveFibre and for the purposes of GDPR, I am a data controller of some of your personal information.

This privacy notice explains how I treat personal information that I collect from (1) people who subscribe to my newsletter, (2) people who buy from me at shop.lovefibre.com, and (3) visitors to my website lovefibre.com

It tells you when and why I collect your personal information, how I use it, how it is processed by third party providers, how it is kept and for how long, and how you can get it changed or deleted.

Types of data I collect

1. If you subscribe to my newsletter

My lawful basis for handling your data is: Consent

What data do I collect?

I collect your first name, so I can greet you properly, and your email address so I can email you. You consent by opting in to my newsletter twice, once when you sign up and then by confirming your sign up.

How is it used?

I use your data to send you an occasional newsletter about what I’m up to: my latest work, new items in my shop, and exclusive offers for newsletter subscribers. From time to time I may also share bits of interesting news from the textile world and some of the things that inspire me.

Who else processes it?

I use a third party provider, Mailerlite, to deliver my newsletter to you. They also give me access to statistics around email opening and clicks, using industry standard technologies, to help me understand how my newsletter is used. For more information, please see Mailerlite’s privacy notice .

How is it kept and for how long?

Your information is kept securely on Mailerlite for as long as you are a subscriber. Mailerlite is a European company and your data is not transferred outwith Europe.

I love having you as a subscriber and don’t want to lose you but if you no longer want to receive my newsletter, of course you can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link which is at the bottom of all my emails. I will then delete your data from the Mailerlite system.

2. If you buy something from me

My lawful bases for handling your data are: my contract with you, my legal obligations,  the legitimate interests of my business

What data do I collect?

When you purchase from me at shop.lovefibre.com you provide my e-commerce system, Ecwid, with your name, email address, postal address, and the details of the product that you’re ordering, and you authorise Ecwid to share these with me. You might also choose to provide me with additional personal information if you contact me for a custom order.

Your payment details are handled either by PayPal (PayPal privacy policy) or Stripe (Stripe privacy policy). I have no access to these.

How is it used?

I use your information to provide my services, such as fulfilling your order, providing customer support, settling disputes, and complying with my legal obligations, e.g. tax law. I use your information as necessary to comply with my obligations under the Ecwid terms of service.

Who else processes it?
  • Ecwid. I share information with Ecwid as necessary to provide you with my services and comply with my obligations.
  • Delivery companies. I will share your name and address so that your order can be delivered.
  • Compliance with laws. I may collect, use, retain, and share your information if I have a good faith belief that it is reasonably necessary to: (a) respond to legal process or to government requests; (b) enforce my agreements, terms and policies; (c) prevent, investigate, and address fraud and other illegal activity, security, or technical issues; or (d) protect the rights, property, and safety of my customers, or others.
How is it kept and for how long?

I store and process your information through some third-party services under jurisdictions with different data protection and government surveillance laws from the EU.

The services I use (with links to their privacy policies) are

All these services are certified by the EU-US Privacy Shield for the protection of your data.

I keep your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide you with my services and to comply with my legal obligations. For example I must keep records for tax purposes for 6 years.

3. If you visit my web site

My lawful basis for handling your data is: the legitimate interests of my business

What data do I collect?

If you comment on my blog, I collect the data you enter in the comments form, and your IP address, otherwise just your IP address is logged.

Cookies. Please see my cookie policy.

How is it used?

IP addresses are used for three things: to track visits to the site; to help protect the site from spam comments; to help increase site security and protect it from attacks.  I cannot identify you personally from your IP address.

Your email address is collected when you comment, to discourage abuse and so that I can reply to your comment personally. It is never shown on the website and I do not use it for any other purpose.

Who else processes it?

I use third party plugins who store or aggregate IP addresses to track website statistics (Jetpack), guard against comment spam (Cleantalk) and enhance website security (Wordfence). This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone. These companies are or are in process of becoming certified with the EU-US Privacy Shield.

How is it kept and for how long?

I do not delete comments after a period of time, as I value these conversations, so your email address is retained as long as that comment is on my site. This also means that any comments you make in future will be approved automatically. However, if you wish to have any or all of your comments removed, please just ask me.

IP addresses may be kept indefinitely to maintain meaningful logs of usage patterns and security risks.

In all circumstances whether you are a subscriber, a customer or a web site visitor

I would never in a million years sell, rent or trade your data with other organisations and businesses. As described above I only process it through third party providers when my service to you depends on the services they provide (for example my mailing list provider and my online shop system), or when this is a normal part of running my business (for example my cloud accounting software, webmail, or website security).

You are entitled to view, amend, or delete the personal information that I hold. You can always contact me on fiona@lovefibre.com with any questions or concerns or to find out what data I hold about you, to have it updated, or to request deletion.

My privacy notice does not apply to the practices of third parties that I do not own or control; please refer to their own privacy notices.

I take all reasonable care to store your data securely and have chosen providers who do likewise.
